We arenβt the first to worship cats! [insider.com]
Just saw a NOVA presentation about cats last night and was disturbed to learn that, while the Egyptians revered the cats and associated them with gods, they also sacrificed them, by the thousands. They was major breeding going on in order to provide cats for sacrifice.
On the up side, all that breeding provided much of the variation in cats we see today. For instance the ginger color first arose from Egyptian cats.
Of course we weren't.. We are so arrogant to think we were the first.... At many things
Wow, from what I read, not just cats, but lion cubs, cobra's and crocodiles were also found there, all mummified !
