My male sleeps next to or on my right shoulder. He has gotten up around 4:30am some mornings and then reached out his paw WITH CLAWS EXTENDED on my neck! OW!

It wasn't until late in my career of uterine fibroids that I was diagnosed as having them. I used to have Cramps from All Religions' Versions of Hell. One thing that always worked was a large tabby with kneading action and purring. There's nothing like a warm, weighted, vibrating heating pad with soothing sound, or at least... she always worked for me.
@ailurophile, I also have fibroids. They suck.
