The philosophy of Swift's Houyhnmhnms (Gulliver's Travels a 1726 satirical novel) was that they, horse like creatures had been given the power of speech in order to be able to communicate intelligently with each other. Therefore their vocabulary had no word for the act of not telling the truth. Seems to me to be Cipollan intelligence at work!
