EVOLUTION - ever think about it? I do. - and I love it. I love evolution more than most people think they love a god. And those who say they don't believe in it? Well, they don't know or understand it and no one has ever explained the basic elements of evolution to them or they would know that evolution is not a "belief" system. It just happens. So what is it? You could argue that it is nothing; you could abolish the word itself -- and it would just keep on going. Evolution has no goal; has no aim or intent. At any sharp instant in time evolution stops; but then, at the very next microinstant, elements respond to physical forces, and what we call evolution continues. So you see, evolution is just matter doing what matter does. -- responding to natural forces. Evolution and science have become the bugaboos of many religions, because believers see them as actual forces working to eliminate their dieties. Science and evolution are merely words describing how knowledge of natural forces is described.

I agree with @AgnoBill and disagree with you...evolution has no goal.
99% of evolution of life on this planet resulted in extinction...so if there is a goal of evolution, it's to allow a process to either thrive or not thrive.
We're a product of millions of positive "mutations" that allowed us to have all the features we have...but for every one positive mutation there's been millions of negative ones. - cancer, cells having a limited number of reproductions comes to mind - that cause an individual to not survive.

Evolution isn't concerned about the individual.... It's about the whole specis..
No goal, no aim, no intent? I disagree.. Evolution has the goal of adaptation for a specis to survive.. Survival is the ultimate goal of evolution...
