Some flowers blooming now in my California garden. The first is a very hardy species rose that is fairly new to me Rosa glauca. The second is a bold lily I picked up at Costco with the pineapple lily Eucomis 'Burgandy Sparkler' backing it up. The third is a trio of plants doing what they do best, catching light: Cleistocactus 'Strausii', Echium 'Star of Madeira' and Phylica pubescens. The final one is of an Iochroma cross named 'Princess', which is unusal for the flared openings. It isn't very hardy but will bloom nearly all year in mild conditions.

I do too. I mentioned it one time to a gardening friend and the next time she came to our garden/studio party she showed up with a seedling. It is gradually putting on a little size and I just got rid of a bunch of thuggish jade plants that may have been crowding it.
@MarkWD I don't know how the pandemic has been affecting local nurseries and growers, but there is a little specialty place on the other side of town, so I may just give them a call on this,
@tinkercreek there is a nursery spread over more than two acres near me that got approved almost right away to open. They didn’t have this one though. I’ll bet you can order something by mail order though.
@MarkWD Oh! And I just read that it's native area includes Bulgaria, a quarter of my lineage - now the search is on!
@tinkercreek Well then I have another you might be interested which also grows in Bulgaria, a large bulb called Dracunculus vulgaris. It is very phallic and yonic at the same time. The phallic part on this one is close to two feet long. The close up shows the morning sun shining through the side of the flower. Here are photos of it.
@MarkWD I had one of the Dracunculus in the past, grew below the kitchen window of my 1915 bungalow! SO I checked in with that little specialty nursery, XeraPlants.com, and here's my new baby on the way home:
@tinkercreek I should have reminded you of its smell but I imagine you haven’t forgotten the dead rat smell. (.Makes a real impression.)
@MarkWD That is something one cannot forget! Do you have a nice up-wind corner in your garden for it?
@tinkercreek well it is located not too far from where we eat when we entertain outside. We've had close calls but no bloom openings with company so far.
Top right looks like a type of day lily, love that color range. Nice.

As do I. Orange may just about be my favorite flower color. But orange with maroon is amazing.
@MarkWD i have 2 large clumps of the old orange varieties and every year i like to taste their nectar. As kids it was a fun treat to suck out some. I have even chopped the early day fresh ones in lunch sandwich spreads...
@HerbertNewsam Now that is just hard core.
