My wife loves to research home improvement projects on Pinterest and she decided she wanted to make some concrete stepping stones for the little forest grove at the front of our property instead of buying. She invited a couple of her girlfriends over for a stepping stone craft party and I whipped up some concrete for them and walked them through how to do the process safely, here is the result. As a builder I usually get my concrete by the truckload but this was a fun project to assist with and the ladies had fun doing it, now we just need another dozen or so more I can install them in the garden.

I popped them out of the forms and this is what they look like, sort of a river bottom limestone look. The pebbles in the bottom of the form give the stepping stones that rippled look.

I had some left over bags of redi-mix and topping concrete from a screed I did for the upstairs bathroom, might as well use it up before it goes hard in the summer humidity. The women had great fun together and I think the two with the glass ornaments will wind up in the Faerie Garden of one of the girlfriends who came out. They used old plastic planters that some seedums came in as the molds and lined them with saran wrap instead of using a release agent like oil, it worked very well.

Posted by KateOahuI saw some pretty flowers on a walk today. I’d never seen a white Hibiscus before. And I do not know what the pink flowers are.
