I'm finally done pollinating my vanilla orchid, daily for about 21 days (except I missed 2). There seem to be at least 25 pods forming on 4 clusters, and looking up at the out-of-reach clumps, none that were naturally pollinated (so we probably don't have the right bees or midges, being an island). In the photos you see the stems that didn't get pollinated and have lost their flowers, and all the enlarged stems that did, with dried up flower on end of many of them. Now they should get longer and wider and mature over 8-9 months until we can pick them.

I like looking at your pics. Everything seems so exotic compared to what I have here.

@Allamanda Yeah, I guess it is all relative. Wherever I'd go there would be something to miss. Still I am a bit envious of those who have more "green time" in their lives. Not that I have a big desire to increase my outdoor workload, but I do get tired of sooo many months of a gray landscape. Maybe it's an age thing.

@itsmedammitNo we all need a certain amount of sunlight , and if you're working inside , you may not see much daylight .

Posted by KateOahuI saw some pretty flowers on a walk today. I’d never seen a white Hibiscus before. And I do not know what the pink flowers are.
