I planted some pussytoes for the first time this year!
Great! Which species??
Here in the Midwest we have two main native species, Plantain Leaf Pussytoes (Antennaria plantaginifolia) and Prairie or Field Pussytoes (Antennaria neglecta). There is also Antennaria dioica, but it isn't worth mentioning
@Leafhead I think it's Antennaria plantaginifolia, but I'm not home to check right now!
@SilviaPark
A. plantaginifolia is IMHO the best of its genus, at least in my region. It's big, leafy and tolerates shade well. Just a few plants can support a helluva lotta caterpillars. They grow fast and provide the most bang for your buck. The only drawback I can see is that they have a relatively short lifespan compared to A. neglecta
@Leafhead thanks for the information! I planted several small plants, and one has really taken off and started to spread.
@SilviaPark
Super cool
I also suggest other plants in this tribe, such as Gnaphalium (Cudweed), Everlasting (Anaphalis), and Artemesia (Wormwood). Edelweiss is in this tribe of Asteraceae (the daisy family) as well
@Leafhead wow I love the flowers on the Everlasting!

Posted by KateOahuI saw some pretty flowers on a walk today. I’d never seen a white Hibiscus before. And I do not know what the pink flowers are.
