Finches are already building nets. We hung an additional gourd-house in one of our pear trees.
Great view of it out the kitchen window.

Nice. It was with the thought of enhancing the landscape for birds that got me started gardening.

Our birds have been early, the bluejays have already fledged their first chicks, I put out dryer lint for the cardinals, now it's rained for 3 days, so once it dries out, I'll put out more. The doves and hawks are doing their dance in my trees, and the osprey has destroyed my hydroponic set up using it for a launching pad into the fish pond.

All my hawks have done is stalk my yorkies...

@Heidi68 feed the birds, it will provide a second source, but yorkies are really slow compared to birds

@glennlab got tons of little birds.... but you are right they are quick little buggers. Today I had to stand in the yard for about 20 minutes while one flew back & forth, then he/she sat in the tree on the other side of the pasture 'watching'....

@Heidi68 I broadcast feed on the ground, The first few seconds of flight are the slowest and the point when the hawk stands the best chance of an easy meal.

That will be fun! I have a little birdhouse on a pole that nuthatches like to use, just outside my kitchen window.

Posted by KateOahuI saw some pretty flowers on a walk today. I’d never seen a white Hibiscus before. And I do not know what the pink flowers are.
