Iā€™m starting to get bunches On my muscadine grapes. And my blueberries are starting to ripen.

Ah, my blueberries are done, graoes starting to ripen but new ones as well, and finally some raspberries on. Amazing knowing things are so different around the world re timing yet some such as the grapes are about the same. My blueberries only finished about 6 weeks back.

I bought a huge planter and put in a grapevine , last year , which promptly died , although the mint was very happy to be there . I bought another grape vine and put in this year ,which promptly died as well , although last year's mint , is still going strong . I think something is poisoning the soil at a deeper level than the mint roots go .

The mint will grow like a weed almost anywhere can be very invasive. Where are you getting your grapes?

Some plants use a self defense 'mechanism' (biologists please chime in) to keep other species from growing in the same space. I think it's called aleopathic. I can't remember. Not saying this is what's happening but your post reminded me of the word.

@farmboy2017 Thank you , I wondered about that , which is why included the mints in my post .

You may have to get a Mmuscadine variety that grows in the Texas heat.

mint is very invasive and will choke out most other plants. But they donā€™t do chemical warfare they just out grow them lol. Thatā€™s why you never want to plant them directly in the ground. You can put them in a container with no holes then put that in the ground but might not even stop them from spreading.

@Cast1es I looked it up. Allelopathy is the word.

Just to add my 2c about the mint. @Donto101 is correct. I have struggled keeping mint in check before (the opposite problem that I have with many other plants!). The mint even sent its roots under a concrete path to the other side and then went under the house! After doing this a few times (because I do like mint and am a sucker for punishment šŸ™‚), I got shown to plant it into a bucket and then plant the whole bucket into the ground (leaving a slight lip uncovered). Works very well for me.

Posted by KateOahuI saw some pretty flowers on a walk today. I’d never seen a white Hibiscus before. And I do not know what the pink flowers are.
