There was an article in todays newspaper, The Desert Sun, that said a low carb diet is bad for you and there's a 32% higher mortality rate if you don't eat carbs. I wanted to include it in this post but not sure how to. Also say a 50% higher vascular problem, 36% higher chance for cancer. The article said they think it's because of all the fats we eat in place of carbs, although it said it is good for weight loss, b/p control and blood . What does everyone else think of this?

Just read this on Business Insider. I think it may be (or at least related to) the original article that is the subject of this post:

yes, that is close to the same article. I haven't been eating beans, but I'm hungry for a pot of beans and ham and split pea soup (homemade). yum, yum

the best way to monitor your diet is to only track sugars, simple. The World Health Organization (WHO) suggest that the average person should limit their sugar intake to 25g per day (6 tsp). That amount by the way is equal to 8oz or 250ml of apple juice.
[who.int]
The American Heart Association recommends 25 to 36g.

If you track your sugar everything else will fall in place naturally.
Don't forget: Eat (real) food (less than 5 ingredients), not too much, mostly plants.

If you read the article carefully, the data is not peer reviewed, which means basically that anyone can publish whatever they want without collaboration by others in the field. Hardly definitive or reliable. In addition, the last paragraph clearly states that it is the processed, white sugar, white flour carbs that are the ones we avoid on keto/low carb anyway. The article is misleading in making it seem that keto and other low carb diets do not include vegetables and beans. They have put together a mix and match group of information to support their intended title..to discredit low carb diets. So, IMO, it is a garbage article. I would stick to scientifically based research and not something printed for general audiences as magazines and internet articles tend to do.

I have no health issues and take no medications despite a family history of high blood pressure and heart disease. It is well documented that when low fat foods started making an appearance, people actually got fatter and had problems losing weight. Of course, the majority of that was from the substitution of sugar instead of fat. I will stick to my keto/low carb because how I feel and my health is all the proof I need.

I feel better at my age than I did when I was severely overweight and tired in my younger days...keto worked for me and continues to be the easiest way for me to lose and maintain my weight and health.

Thank you for this information. I don't want to change my diet as I feel so good on it. I guess this is Fake News.

@Susieq It isn't exactly fake...it is a manipulation of information..some of it true...a study was done, but 25,000 subjects is not exactly a large field considering how many people there are in the world who eat...like I said, each paragraph seems to be just that and there is no cohesion in connecting them all together...the sky is blue, the birds like to sing, my name is Linda so therefore, carbs are bad...the first three are true and have nothing to do with the last part...it is done all the time to grab an audience and feed the gullible.
