For me, I grew up thinking that there was a brand of cheese called "Old Fort". And it was the best cheese ever, although they only seemed to make aged cheddar, the really good kind that crumbles as you slice it; the older it is, the stronger it is, the better it is.
Turns out, and keep in mind that I'm bilingual, "Fort" is French for "strong". The labels in (Ontario) Canada are all bilingual...
My Mum, a Jewish child, attended church one Sunday. She heard "he suffered under a bunch of spider" and could not understand it. The passage was actually "he suffered under Pontious Pilate"!
Yinkes!! I would also suffer under a bunch of spiders!! That's horrific!
In Murfreesboro, Tennessee, there is a street called Old Fort Parkway. Most people I know call it Old Fart.
