English is a phonetic language, not a standardized one. My late grandmother, a Victorian English teacher , was quite adamant about it.. got me a ton of breathing room in school 😃

Try French, I have spent more time trying to explain how to say my name than you can imagine. Hell in one generation of my family there are 4 different spellings among the siblings.

Hence why my initial post was Phydeax. LOL
It's how I jokingly spell "Fido". LOL

I believe that French spelling was made complicated on purpose. It looks to me like some kind of encryption made by the church and the royalty to keep the peasants from learning to read.

My family name has nine letters. Three of them are not pronounced.
