Then a duck would be one thing and many ducks would be also one thing and that would be magic so we should burn them all and serve them all with orange sauce and a nice chianti.

Hang on a sec. Put a duck in a furnace inside a box. Set the furnace to turn on if a certain molecule emits a certain particle (which it does every hour with a probability of 50%). Let the box sit for an hour. Before you open the box, the thing inside the furnace is both a duck and a pile of ashes.
I'll go crawl back under my rock now.
