Just as I was about to close the door, I saw a baby gecko go inside and run under the washer. I was leaving and had a long driving day ahead, so had to go knowing there was a gecko in the house. That evening, I spent a lot of time in my hotel room researching whether geckos in the house was a really bad thing.

I have lots of geckos outside, the only ones that come in the house are the babies, they eat small insects and there is virtually no way to keep them out.
I try to catch them and put them out for the simple reason there usually isn't enough prey nor water in a house for them to survive very long.
@glennlab my research revealed that they would not be harmful to the house or furnishings. However, I also learned that they will always be found in the warmest place in the house. In summer, that would be my bed, so I contacted my pest control people. They brought some little cardboard box traps that have very sticky bottoms on the inside. The intruder was captured and discarded.
