Feel free to reply to any comment by clicking the "Reply" button.Happy "Flag day" all (and yea, it's also Trump's birthday) but up until 5th grade (1957) for me this (below) was the "Pledge to the Flag" that I learned....note no "under god".
Then the paranoids wanted to fight "god-less communism" so they pushed - and legalized - the "under god" in the pledge and on our money.

I remember when they added the phrase "under god" to the pledge. It made me wonder if their god was under the ground as "THE UNDER GOD".
Might just be me but there is a certain irony in using a woman (who couldn't vote at the time) as a symbol of liberty.
