It is Mormon doctrine that the great flood of Noah was God's baptism of the planet earth.
I once asked if that was the case why was the atonement of Christ necessary and was basically told to shut up until after I had been to the temple.
For a "God" who created the universe in a flash (according to the story) the whole ridding the world of sin by saving a few an ark while drowning everything else seem rather over complicated LOL
Don’t forget that the religious also like to state that “god is merciful”, lot’s of nonsense indeed

My dad owned a ranch when I was young - he was born in the early 20s in wyoming, and I'll bet his dad told him that.
