On the left side, the Palestinians weren't looking to kill Netanyahu. They killed those they sought to kill.
On the right side, the media have sought to separate the Palestinians from Hamas, except that the Gazans greatly outnumber Hamas and could eliminate them if they chose to. They have had decades to make that choice. Numerous wars later, the Gazans still choose to let Hamas bring war to their streets; they are Hamas.
This is what happens when too many have sex and don't care - or even welcome the consequences - a growing family.
We are growing too fast;
-150 more per minute,
-9000 more per hour,
-216,000 more per day.
The earth is not growing...so every day we make more "innocents" who have to work harder and struggle longer to break even.
Israeli mentality when it comes to war is very different to that of the west.
I neither condone nor condemn this, but I do understand it, and in a conflict situation others would do well to try and do so too, other wise the approach of Israel to war will appear confusing and incomprehensible.
To try and appeal to Israel using the mentality and morality of other nations is pointless, Israeli's neither understand, nor respect it, they live by the rules of the Torah, first and formeost amongst which is "An eye for an eye" all else is perceived as weakness.
To the Israeli military and government there are no innocents, only aggressors and victims and the death of the victims is always the fault of the aggressor, regardless of who killed them and under what circumstance.
Naftali Bennett, an Israeli politician who previously served as the country’s prime minister, on Sky news last night exploded in fury at the idea of "innocent" Palestinians, stating that to paraphrase,
If you are shooting at the enemy who threatens your children, you do not stop because an enemy citizen is standing in the way, they are all your enemy and all all equally responsible
They go further than this, and do not hesitate to kill their own people if they are being held in the way.
For example I remember international mass outrage and shock back in 1974 when Ma'alot Elementary school was seized by DFLP terrorists and 115 teachers and students were taken hostage, The Israeli government of the time refused to negotiate and instead stormed the school, using phosphorous bombs and heavy machine gun fire to pierce the walls from outside, killing all of the hostage takers and allowing (some said causing) the deaths of 63 of the children and five teachers, classing them as collateral damage.
The Government of Israel at the time, ignored protests and condemnation and in revenge the next day as incomprehensible
The very next day Israel Defense Forces planes bombed targets they claimed were offices and training bases of the DFLP and PFLP. The bombing inflicted damage in seven Palestinian refugee camps and villages in southern Lebanon, that Israel claimed were simply human shields and so equally viable targets. This attack killed at least 27 people and leaving 138 injured
On the one hand Israel justify this by pointing out up until recently, no Palestinian has ever taken a hostage on Israeli soil again, because they know it will not work, but on the other, it is a terrible price to pay in order to win at all costs.
That must be why Israeli President Isaac Herzog said on Friday that all citizens of Gaza are responsible for the attack Hamas perpetrated in Israel last weekend that left over 1,200 people dead.
“It is an entire nation out there that is responsible,” Herzog said at a press conference on Friday. “It is not true this rhetoric about civilians not being aware, not involved. It’s absolutely not true. They could have risen up. They could have fought against that evil regime which took over Gaza in a coup d’etat.”
Just as the citizens of Donbass are justified in repelling the invading Ukrainian fascists?
the citizens of many arab countries rose up in the 2010 Arab Spring but they were quickly undone by infighting, religious extremists and a lack of support/coherent strategy from the West. The citizens of Gaza saw what happened and knew Hamas would do it to them too . . so what are their options?
@bookofmorons interesting that you look to Egypt 2010 for your role model. I would have thought Jan 6, 2021 would be more appropriate.
But irrespective of 2010 or 2021 what do you think should occur?
