i want my foreskin back
Bwa hahaha!!!!
Yeah, makes total sense! Blood sacrifice infuses the Old Testament & "bleeds over" (pun intended) into the New. Human sacrifice was probably the norm with the precursors of the eventual Hebrews that wrote the bibble, (note many references to offerings of the "firstborn" ), & then either changed into, or was edited into, animal sacrifice, & the proper ways to go about it. Jehovah was a bloody & jealous volcano god who loved the aroma of the burnt offerings sent up to him. A barbaric god for a backward people (&, hey, they all were at the time, so no bigotry implied!).
The way the Hebrews differentiated themselves from other religions of the day was that they no longer participated in infant sacrifice (Abraham & Isaac fable) so the idea of sacrificing his son to himself makes even less sense when taken in the historical context.
@glennlab Yeah, but they didn't mind slaughter or slavery, & still accepted the occasional human sacrifice, i.e. Jepthah!
@phxbillcee recognizing the wrongness of slavery and slaughter is a relatively modern concept
What a crap dad that one is!!!
Good thing he doesn't exist!
Like all other "gods", obviously (hu)man-made, with human faults & human emotions. & most obviously human-motivated rules & laws!
