OK, true story (sort of related) power went out at my house some years ago. Girlfriend was over so we were sitting in the dark with candles just talking. I thought it a great opportunity to prove what a capable resourceful guy I am. So I suggested some tea. "but how will you heat the water?" she asked innocently. With my plan already in mind, I quickly said, "I have a gas stove for backpacking!" I could see the lust in her eyes in the dim light of the candles.
So, off I go to dig through my backpacking gear to dig out my jetboil. I come back with my headlamp on and all the necessary items in hand. I then proceeded to heat water in the (almost) primitive fashion that the latest camping equipment can offer.
As we sat there sipping our tea, my girlfriend peering at me lustfully through the steam coming from her cup of hot tea, it dawned on me, and I was praying she wouldn't remember, that my real stove was gas with a standing pilot light.
