Ain't that the truth.

🤷♀️ My straight marriage is working out so far. We were together for over 13 years before we did it, though. We told people that it wasn't "about time" it was the "right time". I think a lot of relationships fail because they make decisions based on lust and not logic. Deciding to marry after a few months or even a few years almost never works out. It's just not enough time to truly get to know someone. A lot of gay marriages are working because they've already been together forever. Often any religious aspect is removed and marriage becomes more about loving someone so wholly and completely that you can't picture your life without them.

marriage is a property contract (by law) like any partnership the members set up their own rules. Unlike any other partnership, it requires a court to dissolve. Most all partnerships fail at some point, one reason marriages last as long as they do is the state involvement.

Most contracts come with time limits, too.
Marriage contracts should have the option of being renewable, and
provisions if they are not renewed.

@KKGator agreed

@KKGator I've always thought this! 10 year renewables with clauses for terms of separation with provisions for different scenarios and mediation.

@CommonHuman Make it five.

@CommonHuman Most partnership agreements have all those terms in it, it would think that the one agreement that most people enter into would have that all spelled out in the beginning. Instead the state requires that most people allow a judge to decide what the dissolution standards are.

Not a big fan, but some words of wisdom, whether he said them or not.

Marriage only serves as a revenue source for business, government, and religion.
It really doesn't provide much else, except for in people's minds.
