162 mass shootings in 2023, thus far. 9 mass shootings yesterday.

We've added a PSA to our gun violence tracking. It's become obvious that just keeping track isn't changing a thing in America, so we're told to included with the data, what the stats show are the best options, should you find yourself in an active shooter incident.

Some things to note: there were two mass shootings in the past month, in which police officers responded quickly, efficiently and with deadly force, no doubt saving countless lives. However:
1.) These two incidents were anomalies and they should remain cautionary tales. Do not expect this type of response should you find yourself in a mass shooting;
2.) The Officers mentioned above are not heroes. They did their jobs. If you find yourself in a mass shooting, don't wait for mythical heroes, don't expect help to arrive. Run, hide, fight. In that order;
3.) If you find yourself in an active shooting situation and are armed, do not attempt to become a hero. You will die and will be putting others at risk. Whether at the hands of the mass shooter or the police. Your chances of killing the mass shooter is less than 0.04%, your chance of being killed is 78%-100%. That's double your chances of dying than if you're not armed (IF you shoot and kill an unarmed person you will be charged with firearm violations and very likely reckless homicide/manslaughter/etc.) Vigilante justice is illegal in America (of course, if you're face to face with the shooter you have the legal right to do so and should, the chances of surviving remain below 22%); and
4.) Playing dead after being shot increases your chances to survive by up to 80% if you're not fatally wounded and first responders actually respond. Again, if you can: run, hide, fight.)

Sadly, it's come to this Scientific data is doing nothing to stop the violence. And the violence is now, more prevelent in rural towns and small cities. The heart of gun violence and death today remains in the southern states. No one is exempt. #staysafe
