Also don't forget the bottles of water or liquids over 4 ounces or Swiss army knives or nail files. And it is not just the airports, it is also amusement parks and stadiums where bags are searched. I attended a Bruins game in Boston and forgot that I had my nice Leatherman multi-tool on me and had to give it up because I could not return it to my car which was miles away. But as far as schools are concerned, the answer is to do nothing or arm the teachers.
