Parents with guns and kids can be a deadly combination. Usually, it is the child getting a hold of a gun and shooting a sibling. Then the parents realize, albeit too late, the problems that guns cause.

@TerriCity That is to be expected. I have said many times on this site: "abuse, the gift that keeps on giving".
Also, none of us should be prosecuted for another’s crime. If there was the criminal negligence of the father’s not storing the weapons properly or giving them to him with the knowledge he was unstable, or aiding and abetting... there are numerous scenarios under which he might be charged but an automatic charge when someone else commits a crime is a terrible idea.

The parents are responsible for not having their weapons securely stored. of course, no parent believes their child would be irresponsible with their guns, let alone a potential mass murderer.

Teenagers are resourceful; the kid could have snuck key ring which had key to locked storage. I was lucky my kids were stable and I don't have guns or opiates around. But what they come up with that you didn't think to tell them never to do is endless. For something like this to happen I think a lot of people weren't paying attention..but we get busy with our own shit and it isn't natural to think the unthinkable because someone seems a little off.
But I'm not certain if there's a law about guns not being properly secured. The NRA would fight against any law that forces gun owners to properly secure their weapons.
Aren't the laws different for different states. I thought Texas had a law in which anyone under the age of 18 was not allowed own a gun or use a gun unless a parent or adult is present. If this is accurate and Dimitrios' father let him take the guns on his own then dad is guilty of a crime
