I must say, I've had enough of Amazon failing to offer a filter that facilitates and allows for dientifying purchases of goods certified as made only in one's own country. My main concerns here are:

  • speaking up as a consumer, (or trying to find competing sites that offer same) has not done me any good on this one (for years now). (now I'm writing, I'll need to re-check Walmart).

  • I'd like to engage in favoritism toward my local economy, both for general community-oriented reasons and for some broader geo-political reasons.

  • it would offer a specific (and quantifiable) GHG benefit around the world (due to reduction in greenhouse gases from reduced transportation to get the goods to my house).

If anyone can suggest an alternative shopping site that does offer this benefit, then please let me know. My own country happens to be the US, and so from a practical standpoint for me personally as a consumer, it won't be as helpful to me to find a site that is focused on another country, but it would still be of use to know, both from an environmental activism standpoint, and, on those occasions where I can't find made in my country, I can start to keep that site as an alternative in mind to amazon (at least they're being more helpful and up-front about where things are made).

I would cross-post this to a consumer-oriented group discussion, but I don't see any offered, at a quick glance.
