Happy and sad. I am a plant ecologist and was out doing a looking for historic trees on the site before development begins (they have to save them if they are healthy and can be worked around). I didn't find any historic trees, but I came across a family of scrub jays, an endangered species and found only in Florida. The developer will probably be able to pay a fine and then their habitat will be destroyed. They don't do well around humans so keeping some habitat would not save them. They need a large track of land, 50+ acres would probably be sufficient.
