Hi folks. Glad to see this group. I'm starting over at age 50 after leaving my husband. I'd like to start a new career (50 is the new 40, right?) and I think it needs to be in one of the fields pertaining to sustainability. My local community college has a sustainable horticulture degree. Anybody have any insights into this?

Is that related to Environmental Science degrees?

zorialoki Level 8 Aug 10, 2018

@shebaloney Have known people with Environmental Science degrees, then they go on to get masters in Soils, Water, ETC.. A good friend of mine got her bachelors in Enviro. Science, a masters in Soils, and is going for a doctorate in Ag Extension. When I retired from the local university I got a lifetime of free tuition, I am wondering what to study next myself. Seems like what you are choosing has a lot of potential. I would need to check to see if they even offer a degree like that here

@shebaloney That sounds like a fantastic goal. I hope it works out well, keep me updated on your progress.

Most of that information is free online. I've always grown my own food, and you can google any type of sustainable setup you like.

@shebaloney I just googled salaries for it and most of them are 22K but if you can get a job with a big company and make much more than that.
