do we really need to spar in space? This is what war has done to human intelligence. "Griffin was referring to a revolutionary new type of weapon, one that would have the unprecedented ability to maneuver and then to strike almost any target in the world within a matter of minutes. Capable of traveling at more than 15 times the speed of sound, hypersonic missiles arrive at their targets in a blinding, destructive flash, before any sonic booms or other meaningful warning." [nytimes.com]
The proliferation of these new highly lethal weapons will make current ballistic weaponry archaic and irrelevant. And if you think hyper-sonics are bad, imagine a future 2nd amendment argument when someone will say the ownership and use of personal laser weapons is a constitutional right!!!
Video of a MACH 7 railgun test(if it will load):
The sound is crazy.
Fucking scary
@jenandjuice1111 Super capacitors, discharging into the Nitrogen cooled coils, to make a super conductor,so when the discharge happens, the coils propelled the sabot at MACH 7 away from the gun. Almost flat trajectory, moving too fast to take evasive actions.
Unfortunately, once one nation develops these weapons, the rest will follow.
Only if they have the technology to launch space vehicles into orbit, with "Arsenals" of kinetic weapons.....
