Stole this from FB. It was in reply to a story saying up to £1 trillion has been moved to Europe from the UK recently

But only yesterday I heard John Baron MP (Cons), a No Deal Brexit advocate, announcing in the House of Commons and on various radio and television programmes, that the economy was doing well and that all these warnings of disaster from the likes of the CBI the TUC et al were nothing but an extension of Project Fear. Mr Baron has a very posh voice and was educated at Cambridge, so he must be very wise and clever. Mr Baron is also a Merchant Banker and has been known to manage funds, so people must think he is very trustworthy. Surely we could not be so cynical as to believe that he and other investors like Jacob R-M would wish to damage our nation because they perceive a chance to become richer than they already are? They seem to be such decent types. Patriots, even. They have given up so much to go into public service. Having said all this, I must admit that I am troubled by a book I read last week written by William Rees-Mogg in which he advised rich people on how to get much richer and in which he argued that nationhood was an obsolete idea and that the rich individual should be sovereign only to himself and should certainly avoid paying taxes as far as possible by secreting money in places like the Cayman Islands. Crumbs. I’m tempted to think that some of these posh people aren’t as nice as I thought and are actually selfish, grasping snakes in the grass of our green and pleasant land.

A caller on LBC this am who visits the same church as W R-M said that she knew his intention in his investment program was "to make his 5 children rich enough to live the same lifestyle as himself" [and presumably his children would not work for it]. For all the stress he has helped cause including fancy footwork, he should give the £7,000,000 he has gained since the referendum and generated by the common uncertainties, he should donate that to the public coffers. The caller also said that he was not particularly generous to their common church

Rees-Mogg also said that it would take a out fifty years to get the economy back to its position before the referendum. He did not consider that a bad thing as of course with wealth you can gain from such a situation. He also manages his fortune for his family, it is a bit like planting an oak tree that takes fifty years to reach the point you take the profit.
For his class this is eminently sensible and they have never cared for lesser mortals.

Blimey, you could be right. Never crossed my mind, and here’s me doffing my cap like our fathers of old to the custodians of the higher good! I am irked. I am vexed. And what’s worse, it looks I’m going to have to move my millions to the Cayman Islands or some such place!

Do I detect more than a hint of sarcasm, and dare I say it, disbelief, that these patriotic Tory toffs could be saying one thing and doing another? Surely not!

Do as I say, not as I do!
