I wonder if any of you good people can throw a bit of clarity on this?
Are bumble bees protected by UK law?
If you think they are what law or bit of legislation covers it?
I've had a few 'experts', who I've no reason to question, say they are, but I've also researched this a bit and it would appear to be a myth.
This is a question many people may ask, and it's important to know the answer. The UK law protects bumble bees under Schedules 1 and 2 of the Wildlife & Countryside Act 1981 (as amended).
Bees are insects that pollinate crops such as fruit-bearing plants or flowers; but not just any flower will do--they need pollen from specific types in order for the fertilization process to happen successfully! So if you see some furry little buggers swarming around outside your house next time there’s bloomin' sun out—you can thank these winged wonders from making life sweet all over again."

Seems that professional eradication services are on offer so seems unlikely that there's legal protection

Here is some information from the European Union on the protection of honey bees, specifically I'm relation to managing plants and food safety.

It might now be the case that some rare bumble bee species have some protection while common ones do not. @Ellatynemouth is correct about the law changing to ban certain pesticides which have been shown to reduce bee numbers, likewise it may be illegal to destroy a colony of a particular species if there is in fact a law protecting rare or endangered types; but whether there are laws to protect individual bees is obviously a different matter - I don't think anyone would go to jail for squashing a bee. Nobody should squash bees though, of course, because bees are nice.
It occurred to me that if anyone knew which animals can be legally killed, it'd be a company that specialises in killing animals - so I looked up "pest control bees law UK" and found this post on Rentokil's site, revealing that if any bees do in fact now enjoy legal protection, they didn't until very recently... I don't think they are, but legislation has been brought in to stop them dying from pesticides.
