I’m back with my favourite Norwegians again today...sorry Roger, I know their charms leave you completely unmoved. However, I have followed their career since 1985 and considering that they are still referred to by most Americans as one hit wonders, and only known in the USA for their mega hit Take On Me, it’s amazing how big a deal they are elsewhere. In Europe, UK and South America in particular, where they’ve had innumerable hits and sell out live concerts. Their music and their cutting edge and innovative promotional videos always look and sound different from anybody else’s. They have many styles of music from synth pop, through to hard rock and blues...but all are instantly recognisably and unmistakably a-ha, their sound is unique to them, regardless of style. In 1991 they released Move To Memphis as a single from their Memorial Beach album and commissioned Moroccan born French film director Erick Ifergan to shoot the accompanying promo video...which included controversial French actress Beatrice Dalle who asked to to act in it...and a long-haired Morten on vocals of course... red hot and sexy as hell. No wonder Dalle asked to be in it!
