Ireland is the most successful country to have competed in the Eurovision Song Contest…having won it on seven occasions since first entering the competition in 1965. Johnny Logan is the most successful singer/songwriter winning outright for Ireland twice and writing or co-writing two of the other winning songs. In 1996 Ireland won Eurovision when it was held in Oslo - Norway having won the previous year. It was not a Johnny Logan song that year but one from the pen of Brendan Graham who co-wrote You Raise Me Up, and was sung by Eimear Quinn. It was called “The Voice”… and Eimear was a vocalist with Celtic Woman. I’ve chosen a later version of the song to post here today with another member of Celtic Woman, Lisa Kelly on lead vocals.
