Yes, as Marje stated in her post today, Norway has a disproportionate share of gifted singers/performers.
One of my alltime favorites is Kurt Nilsen, here singing Auld Lang Syne. A fantastic voice with remarkably wide range, combined with an impish charm and, from what I read, humility has endeared him to me. I had watched his audition with the Idol series where Simon Cowell (who I've always disliked) says to him something like "you're very good, but we'd not know what to do with you ... you sing like an angel but you look like a hobbit". How cruel! Kurt said in an interview that there was a lot of pressure on him to have his front teeth 'fixed' but that he feels it is an integral part of him and he refuses. In this performance, for me it is almost as though his voice is the only instrument, and what an instrument!

Very nice, and what a sad encounter with Howell. He cashes on being 'tough' and 'mean', like Gordon Ramsey, they know that's what TV audiences like and present themselves like that, ratings...

Agreed Simon Cowell is a detestable man. Lovely voice, lovely song. Too much orchestral performance. We are losing simplicity.

He’s brilliant I love him too, Do you know that they said the same thing to Morten Harket about his teeth..he had gaps in between all of them, and a bigger one in the middle front, he also refused to. Another favourite Laura Pausini has noticeable gaps between her teeth too.

I've reached a stage in life where I'd rather have a gap than a false tooth I take in and out.
