She Moved Through The Fair.

This song came up in another of my music groups earlier today, when it was posted as a guitar number by Irish Rock guitarist Rory Gallagher. It’s a very traditional song and the guitar version very different from the gentle a Capella melody which is more usual, this one by Caitlin Grey, who is a member of the Irish group Celtic Women, being my favourite.

We sang this on stage two years ago.

It’s beautiful do you not think?

@Marionville I think I prefer Loreena. I find this voice rather nasal. It is a classic song and reminds me a going to a horse fair in Co. Galway when I was 8.

@rogerbenham I like it better that Loreena because it is the way that traditionally it was sung, and with a genuine Irish lilt to the voice. I also like Nana Mouskouri singing it unaccompanied, which I heard her sing in Belfast’s Kings Hall a few years ago, but it was missing the Iriish intonation. Again it’s a matter of personal taste.

@Marionville Absolutely!

Beautiful! ...I have it by Loreena Mckennitt...

Isn’t it? I have listened to many versions by lots of different voices...this one’s the best.

Personally I don’t care for her one too much...but it’s all a matter of personal choice and listening enjoyment.
