Organized cults require repetitive indoctrination so that neural pathways in the brain that were at the start, shallow 'what if' consideration of the possibility that there could be an invisible being that created us and rules over the universe - (the neural pathways) be reinforced with each group meeting to the degree that veering away from that thinking into an area of the brain that can analyze and base reasoning on evidence becomes almost impossible. Without the constant recurring meetings of the cult that fortify the delusion, there would be a lot more free thinking individuals.
The average human has more compassion than the average god.
I loathe the mentality of people who can look at such images and still say
"God has a plan and it is all for the good in the end, we just have to have faith, god's way are not our ways."
In which case, fuck god's ways, fuck the divine plan, and fuck those who would excuse this out of fear of hell

Posted by CliffordCookChristians like to believe that their religion spread around the world by people voluntarily abandoning their own cultural traditions in favor of the obvious superiority of Christianity.
