In defense of third-party candidates: Blame those who didn't vote, not those who chose to run.
I posted Saturday, ironically to this issue, no one chose to click on, a plausible reason we ended up with Trump. Covering the republican side of purging voters. As this article will inform you, it's not the only reason we ended up with Trump. As this article states, most eligible voters who don't participate lean left and progressive. I would argue, progressive that were unhappy with the choice of Clinton. That's another story though. But we can't have change if they don't participate! I would also argue they are more likely to lean towards the Green Party platform. Meaning they are also guilty of holding back the only party who might actually fight for their causes.

While that’s true, not voting at all is the same as the vote for the third party candidate. At least if you voted, you have a voice. For me my vote was a vote against Clinton. I felt like I had no other choice. Lots of people I’ve talked with felt the same way.

I strongly disagree. Any party can win with support. And I'll continue to argue that the Green Party can win, only doesn't because people are trapped under the narrative it can't win via managed percept. Sanders is living proof that idiotic catch phrase is bullshit. If I was wrong then the media would cover those candidates with equal time as they do the 2 party establishment. But instead what little you get from them is the same ridicules rhetoric I hear from voters. The same god dam rhetoric thrown at us Sanders supporters as we took him to the top of the primary on only grass roots support. The only difference between Sanders and Stein was the fucking word Green! You're only repeating what they want you to believe. Break the chains and think for yourself.
