Feel free to reply to any comment by clicking the "Reply" button.Assad is Russia friendly. It's the only reason the US/Qatar/Saudi Arabia has a problem with Syria. Syria was the key to the U.S. building a pipeline up into and through Turkey, and cutting into Russian oil and gas sales to Europe.

Up until 2011 or so, Syria was also a place the CIA used black sites to send captured or expected terrorist to interrogate and torture in the first years after the Iraq invasion. During a time Assad was a relatively cooperating tool. This was a win win for Assad at the time being he had a relatively terrorist free country much like Iraq once did. Then it became, as Wesley Clark warned, a target of the machine. Much for the reasons you mention. There's already a company there stealing oil there that Cheney, Rumsfeld, and other American interest had a part in. [journal-neo.org] I have since heard Cheney and some interest have withdrawn interest? Possibly due to them being outed? I might argue a lot of Assad's problems today is also to silence just what went on in the first years of his toolship also.
I have no doubts that Assad is still up to his same old crap. Mainstream reporting just turns their heads when instructed to do so. If we are to continue to sell goods and services there is only a certain amount of alarm we can feed to the public.
Trump wants to make everything all about HIM. The rest of America has to promote goods and services to see who will get the richest. After all, the days of building a better widget are gone now. Nobody really cares about rights of others any longer.

@DenoPenno while Assad has plenty of faults in his closet, terrorist is a strong conviction. I would agree with him being framed to a degree in at least a couple of issues. I put Assad in the same category as that as Saddam Hussein. Stuck in a realm of radical movements and constant interference from intelligence agencies since the 50's. Not to mention colonization from the British even long before. Leaders from that area have been used as tools and tossed out like changing seasons by the westernized world. Syria in actuality really doesn't have much of a life as a sovereign nation when it comes to recent modern times.
