More Second Amendment Madness
Robert Parry, founder of this site, exposed in this Jan. 2013 article the dangerous & false idea the U.S. Constitution Framers put in the 2nd Amendment so an armed population could fight the government the Framers had just created.

I have read the 2nd Amendment and I have never viewed it the way so many in this country do. The TJ quote comes up but I had never researched it. TY for the link, I did pull it up and got about 1/4 thru and copied it all to an email to read later. It will provide ammo to engage in future discussion - even if only to state, 'that was NOT what he TJ) said and I can provide you with the facts if you are interested.'
Of course in the court of popular opinion it is difficult to get people interested in the facts. Well, sometimes.

I support the 2nd amendment for general protection in rural areas and for hunting for food, but the notion that you can go up against the U.S. government in a battle is just downright delusional. I don't care how many guns someone has as they can only operate 2 at the same time at the most. thinking that you can beat a battalion of soldiers who have lots of automatic weapons and grenades and tanks and humvees with .50 caliber machine guns on top is like I said just downright delusional. They have fighter jets and aircraft carriers. They have missiles. What good is your handful of guns, in which you can only operate two at a time, going to do? They could destroy you with 1 missile from a drone from miles away. The only people that might be able to put up much of a fight would be in city areas only because the geography would be easier for people to hide and move around, but even that wouldn't be much of a fight. There would be small pockets of resistance after the initial battle. People like to point to Vietnam to dispute this, but Vietnam was a completely different situation and it was also almost 45-65 years ago. Technology has progressed a lot since then.

You would have to persuade a good part of the military to take sides with you to accomplish a worthy fight. And this isn't any 3rd world country where that can happen today. Our military is owned by the world ruling class in which our generals have betrayed us all, right along with our politicians. I fear that even if we united under a series of 1 or more 3rd parties and began to build a working socialized country, that our military would answer the call of the world elite to take over the country. Then turning us into a 3rd world like country of military rule. We would then be at the mercy of Russia and China to help. Imagine us being Aleppo!
@William_Mary I can imagine it. The U.S. is only as prosperous as it's investors and rulers want it to be. If they think investment somewhere else is a better option for the long term then they don't give a damn about our well being. Not that they do now, but they would let us all die and starve and not blink an eye.

@Piece2YourPuzzle China fears the world. With good reason. They have felt the wrath of betrayal from all sides on a number of occasions. I give them credit on one side though. They have not allowed themselves to be drawn into collapses like the Russians did in Afghanistan. A lesson I think they (the Russians) learned and now rebuilding to be a new type of world power such as the Chinese. While I know the China government has a ways to go towards its people are concerned, they are protected in a large sense from what we are trapped in. A delusional reality that has been created for us.
The people there actually think we have a democracy here and freedom of information. And both of us know this isn't exactly true. And those who make it here, to go to school especially, quickly fall in line with the MSM illusion thinking it's better here in those aspects. They quickly forget our history or are ignorant of it to weigh it in with what they see here.
