US Empire’s Passion For Iraqi Democracy Magically Disappears

A reoccurring dilemma for democracy. Democracy is only allowed as it benefits certain powers who undemocratically control it. When you attempt to actually exercise democracy towards change outside of their agenda it's taken from you.

From another source----There have been vague claims that Soleimani killed a US contractor, but this is in doubt. As Scott Ritter writes: “There are several problems with this narrative, first and foremost being that the bases bombed were reportedly more than 500 kilometers removed from the military base where the civilian contractor had been killed. The Iraqi units housed at the bombed facilities, including Khaitab Hezbollah, were engaged, reportedly, in active combat operations against ISIS remnants operating in both Iraq and Syria. This calls into question whether they would be involved in an attack against an American target. In fact, given the recent resurgence of ISIS, it is entirely possible that ISIS was responsible for the attack on the U.S. base, creating a scenario where the U.S. served as the de facto air force for ISIS by striking Iraqi forces engaged in anti-ISIS combat operations.” [popularresistance.org]

A Message of Love and Solidarity to Iran from the US

On January 4, 2020 people in more than 80 cities in 38 states took to the streets to protest the US murder of Iranian leader Qassem Soleimani and Iraqi leader Abu Mahdi Al Muhandis in Baghdad, Iraq. The demands were no war on Iran, US troops out of the Middle East and an end to sanctions.

Demonstrators in Washington, DC gave a message of love and solidarity to Iranians while protesting in front of the Trump Hotel. Margaret Flowers, co-director of Popular Resistance led the chant.

"No War on Iran!" - Anti-war protesters hit Times Square decrying Trump

Hundreds of anti-war protesters joined a demonstration against war with Iran and US President Donald Trump in New York City on Saturday.

Protesters could be heard chanting "Hey hey, ho ho. These endless wars have got to go," as they held signs saying "WARmerica," "No war or sanctions on Iran," "Stop bombing Iraq" and "US Troops out of Iraq." Police presence was minimal.

One protester criticised Trump for "destabilising the region through Syria, Iraq, Jordan, Yemen, Libya... So it really bothers me as someone who's seen the consequences of war first hand." Another condemned the use of US tax dollars for "killing people. And we need so much here at home. So we need to change how our tax system works as well."
