I was raised in a home which was not especially religious but I think both my parents were believers. Although somewhat naive and a "goody two-shoes" as a kid, I always had a problem with organized religion and those bible stories which even then seemed to me to be a fiction.
Looking back, I was probably an agnostic for much of my adult life but within the last 20 years or so, I just cannot accept a belief in ANY deity nor ANYTHING supernatural.
So, I call myself an atheist and I don't hide the fact. Also, I have grown concerned over the past ten years about a resurgent religious right in the US and its attempt to create what I call a soft theocracy...one law at a time. I actively support such organizations as The Freedom From Religion Foundation and Americans United for Separation of Church and State. I follow SOCAS issues on social media and the news.
I'm an avid bicyclist, photographer, and musician. I'm a non-smoker and I don't do drugs or consume alcohol.
