I guess that this is what "be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth" looks like these late years, now that wastelands of organic polymers darken the face of the deep.
"The Great Pacific garbage patch, according to the latest March estimate, is twice the size of France and contains nearly 80,000 tonnes of plastic... According to scientists, the patch has been growing “exponentially” in recent years. The March estimate found it was 16 times larger than previously expected."
But the good news is that a massive cleanup is afoot ...
... and we're devloping bacteria that actually EAT plastic ...
It never ceases to amaze me that so far our ingenuity seems to stay a step ahead of our ability to kill ourselves and/or the planet off!
The bad news is that plastic breaks down into ever smaller particles, until they reach a microscopic level, that will be almost impossible to remove from the oceans - and research is showing that micro-particles are now to be found in the air (thanks in no small part to clothes driers that vent into the outside air).
I was going to say Octomom, but, yeah... let's pollute on a catostrophic level...
Octomom! I'd forgotten that news cycle. Wonder how she and the kids (didn't she have double figures in all) are doing?
