I tend towards thinking that:
The flow of time is a illusion. What was still is. What will be already is. Just because you have already made every decision that you will ever make doesn't mean there is/was no free will. There is no death and we make our existence heaven, hell or something in between for eternity.

Feel free to reply to any comment by clicking the "Reply" button.It is interesting to postulate as a thought problem, that the whole of your personal reality exists as one single complete entity in an utterly different reality and that time is simply the way consciousness makes sense of it, but even if that is the case,
what difference does it make?
From a conscious POV time is real, reality as imparted to our brains through our sensory perception is real
(If you prick us, do we not bleed? If you tickle us, do we not laugh? If you poison us, do we not die? And if you wrong us, shall we not revenge? )
Even if this reality is simply a perception of something else, or a hologram or a though in the mind of a higher being, as far as we are concerned time, space, matter, energy and thought are all we have, and determine our state of being.

Food for thought... Time slows as you near the speed of light. Photons are traveling at the speed of light (obviously) , so from the"perspective" of a photon, there is no passage of time, right? Time is not linear, but instead all encompassing, from the very beginning (if there was one) to the very end (if there ever will be)
I know photons aren't sentinent, but I guess it's kind of like "If a tree falls in a forest..."
No hokey BS dealing here, just something to ponder.

What if time being an illusion is the real illusion and all of this musing is just your brain's attempt to escape from the notion that you only exist for a finite period of history, which is rapidly slipping away while you contemplate your navel?

Yup,
Einstein proved that all matter is a form of energy, so since energy can neither be created nor destroyed, we have always existed and will always exist in some energy form. Quantum physics already tells us different dimensions exist.

What is, was,
What was will be,
What will be was, but will be again.
Time is an illusion, lunch time doubly so.
Personally I do not believe in time except as a human construct,
yet the construct is useful.
Time if we accept it,
is infinite,
by comparison our lives are so minuscule as to be of no importance.
Divide our life by infinity and the time of out life does not exist.
We are born and die in less than an instant.
