One of the real and lasting gifts of Judaism and Christianity has been the belief that everyone carries within them a spark of the divine, and so is as deserving of what were called "natural rights" (now known as human rights).

Today the United Nations declared that the "zero tolerance" policy put in place by Donald Trump - and blamed by him as the Democrats' doing - that separates children, infants, and even babies from their families (to be housed we now know in cages and makeshift warehousing for an average of forty-five days) is a violation of human rights.

"The UN human rights office said it was deeply concerned over the zero tolerance policy introduced by the Trump administration to deter illegal immigration.

The spokeswoman Ravina Shamdasani said the policy had 'led to people caught entering the country irregularly being subjected to criminal prosecution and having their children – including extremely young children – taken away from them as a result'."
