β€œThe problem, often not discovered until late in life, is that when you look for things in life like love, meaning, motivation, it implies they are sitting behind a tree or under a rock. The most successful people in life recognize, that in life they create their own love, they manufacture their own meaning, they generate their own motivation.

For me, I am driven by two main philosophies, know more today about the world than I knew yesterday. And lessen the suffering of others. You'd be surprised how far that gets you.” - Neil deGrasse Tyson

Warren Buffet, one of the richest dudes ever, said it ALL was luck. The right parents, the right education, the right education...ALL just luck.

I've always thought that we make our own luck, but I have come to realize that this sort of simplistic view contains a fair amount of cultural, white privilege. Nonetheless, I believe Mr. Tyson has a valid point here. You do need to actively look for your opportunities. Things rarely just drop into your lap, you don't wait for your ship to come in, you row out and meet it. This is a worthy sentiment, and a good thing to be. And a steady dedication to lifelong learning predicates all of it.
