A random act of kindness can change your day, maybe even your life. When I lived in Phoenix, my last grandparent died. All that is lest of my family was mom, dad, sis, two cousins, and an aunt. I took that very hard. I couldn't sleep that night, and maybe around midnight, I went to 7-11 to see if I could get something to sleep. I usually drove, but didn't that night. Just walked a few blocks and try to clear my mind. About half way there a black gentlemen stopped me trying to sell me a watch. they say the first step with dealing with death is denial. I went almost instantly to grief, so I wasn't in the right state of mind. So I disclosed to a complete stranger and street peddiler that I didn't have a lot of money, and that my grandma had just passed. He immediately appoligized to me. Then asked where I lived. I vaguely pointed to my apartment. Then he said I live just down the street, and said he himself didn't have a lot of money, but If you need anything I'll help you. He also disclosed that most of his family was dead, and that he understood. I will never forget that conversation with this fellow. Some times the smallest acts of altruism will make someone's day a lot better. On the flip side I try to do the same. When I lived in Cali, I was just toolin' around one day. Went to the gas station. When I left I saw a guy and his dog holding (well his dog wasn't holding) a cardboard sign that just said "BURGER PLEASE". I had more than enough money in my account. I went back to the gas station and got 4 burgers, some fries, and soda. I stopped and gave it to him. He never said thanks. Only thing he said was 'alllrighttttt'. His facial expression I will never forget. It was more than words. This guy's pale blue eyes immediately lit up, and he had a big smile on his face. I will never forget that moment, and how good I felt. He was chowing down like no other. I hate to see people go hungry. Especially when I could afford to go out to fancy restraunts. I don't care if he was homeless because he got hooked on drugs. For all I know, he could have been a homeless vet. Moral is we should be more kindly towards others. But don't let them confuse kindness with weakness.

I believe that you should do a random act of kindness every day. There is nothing better to lift my spirits.
