What was your favorite place to go when you were a kid? Mine was a street we called suicide hill and it was so steep but we used to sled down it

Out to my family homestead in the coastal foothills of Oregon.. I’d spend winter, spring, and 2 to 4 weeks of summer vacation out there ..from the big city.

Back in town, Portland, I loved Mount Tabor ..an extinct volcano turned park, we’d skateboard it half the night ..a bong hit & beer before each run.. we’d slalom down the gated lit roads, looking over city reservoirs and downtown in the warmth of summer.

I grew up on an almost 500 acre farm in Western PA -- lots of rolling hills and ridges. There was a meadow way up on a hill top in the middle of the woods from which you could see a power plant almost 30 miles away....to someone raised in the hills...that was a LONG way off! LOL I think it's the reason I've climbed so many mountains, towers, and other tall places in my life....I always wanted to see the view...there is nothing like standing on a summit overlooking a vast expanse....

Geneva on the Lake for the fun side when you could actually flip a go kart if you weren't careful, and the gorge off of Mitchell's Mills Road for the nature side.

So random, but I loved going to the dump. (You know you grew up in a small town when the dump was a good time! Lol.)

Bonus dump story: The guy that worked at the dump was named Lee. He had the thickest coke bottle glasses I have ever seen and he worked out of a tiny shack at the scale that must have had 300 flies in it at all times. They were his friends and he would tell you all their names. It wasn't a joke thing either. About 15-20 years ago he moved to a bigger city across the state. He's a preacher now. I don't even know what to say about that...

We have a Suicide hill in Milwaukee. My favorite place was, and is, the lakefront of Lake Michigan.

'Down the stream' we used to try and catch sticklebacks (small fish) and have a treehouse there.

Loved my neighborhood tree houses, and fished for salimanders and crayfish

@Gripster31 saimanders, how cool, they're not native here and always awe me in their singularity.

My paternal/maternal grandparents. The paternal side was magical with horses, the maternal indulged me in all manner. Both were amazing. I truly won the grandparent lottery. Had not two, but THREE(one step!) sets of the most amazing grandparents anyone could ever wish for.
I miss them all terribly 😟 😟 😟 They were my heaven.

Candlewood Lake in CT. I spent almost every day in the summer at the lake.

Hi, Boogey,

You earn website points, and help other members get to know you better, when you write an informational profile listing your hobbies and interests, and answer all the profile questions, since that's the first place many people look when they see a new member.

Also, the website uses your profile to find member matches, so the more details you include, the better the match.

Then you make comments and write your own posts to earn more points, with different perks for different levels, and when you reach level eight you get an agnostic T-shirt.

To find members near you, click on the "Meet" button at the top of the page, then on "Members," and enter your preferred search parameters.
Or click on the "About" button at the top of the page to find links to FAQ or the website tutorial.

Have fun!

@Boogey I'm supposed to be assisting them..hard to keep up with all the people who don't write their profiles and answer profile questions.

Usually I just let it slide, but it frustrates me when I go to their profiles and find nothing.
