Curious how McDonalds is the new cathedral. It's amazing to see the Golden Arches in the distance when you have been driving and maybe lost for hours. It must have been the same for medieval pilgrims seeing the cathedral spire ahead meaning there was civilisation and rest around the corner.

Hmmmm. It would mean 8$ and an unhealthy bowel movement half an hour later. :/

I had a priest friend who used to equate McDonalds with church. They are the same no matter where you go in the world with some language changes and local specialties. But a Big Mac is a Big Mac no matter where in the world you are. Like the Catholic Church, the interiors are virtually the same, the signs are the same, etc. We just do not pray to Ronald McDonald.

When you drive through Connecticut just about every exit has a McDonald's on both sides of the freeway.
