There is always a group of people that want to go along and get along, which is fair and it works in many cases but it doesn't work with religion because all religions command their followers to kill the heretic, the infidel, the nonbeliever. So understand that if you are an Atheist then you are the enemy of the religious believer because you point out what should be obvious to everyone - That the Emperor has NO Clothes.
@MARDUK Torturing, killing and shunning the Non-Believers, it doesn't get much more intolerant than that, true enough.
,,,you be preachin to choir with me bro....that is why I preach against religions, all of them...
@MARDUK May God help them...hahahahahahahaha.....
I think she wasn't all that good for Atheism, many issues surrounding her.
Any of us that read history know this. It is what is happening today that we need to worry about though. If someone brings us the past, I'll argue about the past but right now today we just need to worry about not having rights taken away or being deprived from them. If folks are civil and friendly, I'm not going to start an argument about something from centuries past. If they are cantankerous and try to tell me how wonderful the Christian faith has always been, well, that's warrants a different attitude.
@MARDUK I would say you have an attitude. I am well aware that terrible things happen in Muslim countries and in the countries of other faiths as will. So what are you going to do about it? Why don't you just traipse over to India and just solve all their problems? Because somebody has a bit of sense and knows he can't personally solve all those atrocities you attack him. You have no idea the extent of my "privilege" or my involvement. You seem to want to attack everybody that doesn't walk lock-step with you and your ideas and if that's the case it won't be long before you have nobody to even bounce your ideas of of. I will certainly stay clear in the future.
OK, yeah, it's the truth. Madalyn did have a way of getting under peoples' skins. She made almost as many enemies in the atheist community as she did in the religious communities.
But, at the same time, where do you go with that from here? I am an atheist, but I am not a 24/7 atheist. Sometimes I build robots or bake bread or work on my web page. It's a part of me, but it's not all of me.
Sure, those things happened, and in some countries, far worse things are being done to atheists.
But what do you expect any of us to do about that? I used to have a chip on my shoulder, going into religious discussion forums, acting all superior. But in the end I found out that these were basically good people who had been led to believe that atheism was evil.
The main difference between them and me is that like me, they thought about the Big Issues; they just accepted predigested answers, instead of doing the hard work and finding the answers on their own.
