I ordered the new testament Bible in Arabic. Istarted reading it in English before but i always find it hard to read a religous book. About 7 years ago since leaving Islam, i never went back to read the Quraan again. I find it really boring and hard to follow any religous book. Not sure why?! or maybe I do. How about you?!

Yes it’s dreadful. I’ve read the Bible twice front to back over the years, and both were painful. When you read it with the eyes of a non-believer it is obvious it was written by primitive men who didn’t even know where the sun went at night. So many contradictions. And when you learn the history of it’s origins and how it was compiled - well, it just infuriates me we have to deal with it’s followers at all. Good for you for trying. How long were you in Islam? Always in Canada or were you abroad?

I take it like any other fictional story and it is boring as hell

you mean like electronic version? yeah this is a lot but i don't like to read from screen. too much for my eyes

@Fatemah haha, yeah, I meant electronic. Reading print version is much easier than screen.

That will make a good door stop.

I've read the Bible in several languages, though never in the original Greek, Hebrew or Aramaic. I hold the dissenting opinion that it is actually worth reading if only to better understand what folks thought and what they knew/didn't know 2000+ years ago. The Bible is a hodgepodge of profound wisdom, bullshit, nationalist propaganda, pseudoscience, history and myth. As long as one keeps in mind that it is neither "holy" (whatever that is) nor the "word of god" nor ultimate truth, then it makes a good read, at least in parts.

Agree. I memorized I Corinthians 13 (the so-called "love chapter" ) as a kid, can still quote much of it, and am still impressed with it. Religion is right twice a day, just like a stopped clock. On occasion, even profound. That doesn't make it either right or respectable, but it does make it something other than a simplistic bogeyman.

Why read them, unless you like fiction, or being threatened with hell.

Just to tell people i read your books im not ignorant hehehehe

The next time you go to a hotel, just steal one. Might be lucky enough to find one in Arabic. I usually throw them in the trash. By buying that book, you are promoing them.

I didnt buy it it was free of charge.
