The latest proposals from our government will see us gaoled for up to 20 years for protesting on the streets about Australia joining in wars that are contrary to international covenants and agreements. Furthermore, making complaint to the International Court of Human Rights in Geneva or just reporting Australian breach of rights can also result in gaol terms.
Welcome to democracy in Stalag Australia where "Arbeit nicht mach frei".

almost every day i stumble across an example of the deeply ingrained servitude that still dwells in so many australians. it sickens me to feel that quite a number of them seem to be comfortable with the idea of feudalism.

the latest played out on a local fakebook page, where a dozen commenters attacked me: how dare i be so rude as to critizise my landlady! as a mere tenant i have no moral right to expect anything from someone owning a home.

i am not far from giving up life in this admittedly wonderful land - the nation is too harsh & unjust for my taste.

Don't take it too personally. Xenophobia is their second religion. I put a cat into their self righteousness when I suggested to the review of the Victorian Tenancy Act that tenants be entitled to a share of capital gains when they are realised. Naturally they ignored me. The Age recently reported that landlords in Victoria are costing taxpayers $6500 p.a. on average and throughout Australia it is $10,000.

@FrayedBear, i have to find the article in the age, it is so flabbergasting (ha! at last i landed this word).
putting a cat into someone's whatever i suppose means causing riot...?

@walklightly try reading some of these:

I didn't refind the newspaper article which I read about a month ago at the chemist.

@walklightly "put a cat amongst the pigeons" or "a fox in the hen house" - mink were even worse.

@FrayedBear, from the commencement i saw through this scheme & am just surprised that not more people are in favour of an organised uprising.

@walklightly I believe that it only got close to it when they sacked Gough Whitlam back in the 70's. Colonialism and convict cringe and white guilt imo have a lot to do with it. Maudling affluence has also tended to dampen ardours.

@FrayedBear, & i can't even go to protest the latest mega development plan in west byron tomorrow - my foot won't allow it 😟

@walklightly What happened to your foot?

@FrayedBear, i have a neuroma, on waiting list for surgery, but (due also to adjusting the position of foot to ease pain while walking) the condition is getting worse by the day now.
